In these classed the participants are led through laughing exercises followed by deep breathing. They say it's perfectly normal to feel awkward at first but after a while it becomes infectious and is extremely healthy.
The benefits of real laughter include improved blood flow, lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol and boosting the immune system. The jury is still out on fake laughter but all the same physical effects are there, so it's reasonable to assume the benefits are the same.
It is also said by advocates of laughter yoga that it is only fake laughter for a short while, and then it becomes very real. This new type of yoga is practiced by senior citizens, cancer patients, corporations and even prisoners. Many of these people swear by it and claim it changes lives. One person claims that after just eight months in the program she was able to give up medications for depression, asthma and ADHD. She says it's a real stress-buster and if she stops the classes for just a few weeks she notices a big difference.
When it comes to getting a better nights sleep, the less stress you have the better. A stress free person will fall asleep quickly and naturally each and every night. If you have problems with stress, and have not yet found the cure, laughter and yoga just might be the answer you have been looking for. Or, if you are taking medication for stress related illnesses, this might be the solution to get you off the meds.
As far as your health is concerned, anytime a natural remedy can replace pills, you are better off. If laughter and yoga can replace your stress relieving medication, wouldn't it be worth a try. And wouldn't a good nights sleep be great, each and every night.
